There are indeed too many "renaissances"

If you’re looking for something to read today, may we suggest “There are Too Many Little Renaissances?”
If you’re unfamiliar, The StopGap is run by Daniel Lavery and Jo Livingstone and is the intellectual heir to the marvelous (and much-missed) The Toast, which has the best medievaly thing ever put in the internet - “How to Tell if You Are in a Lai by Marie de France.” Anyway, both Jo and Daniel are medievalists and so there’s lots of fun and very smart pieces to be found there. It’s really funny also free to read, so go sign up now.
PS — we actually talk about the very real problem of “renaissances” in talking about medieval Europe in The Bright Ages.
