Half Edge & Friends // 10th February
Hey friends,
I'm throwing a big big party in the club on 10th February. I turn 30 that week, so I'm celebrating by dispensing with the usual Half Edge back-to-back formula and replacing it with an absolutely stacked lineup of incredible DJs and wonderful friends who'll be lighting up the Partisan dancefloor from 11-6. Tickets are free! But there's also a donation link in the event page for Partisan Collective, who are working tirelessly to keep DIY space and culture alive in times where gentrification and rising rents are making this near impossible. Do come down if you can make it, I'd like to see all your lovely faces. Details are here:

Half Edge & Friends - a free party
The year is 2024 and the cost of living sucks. Manchester continues to be carved up and price gouged by property developers, while fashion corporations leech onto our sacred spaces, and some bright spark marketing creative convinced Sofia Coppola to put her name to a Tik Tok montage of the Hacienda, Joy Division, Emmeline Pankhurst and all the other things that have long ceased to exist in the city except as shallow images used to sell luxury flats. You feel tired, cold, overworked and some weekends the rising ticket fees keep you indoors.
In the midst of all this, Half Edge has teamed up with Partisan to bring you a FREE PARTY, with a stacked line up of incredible DJs. Piss poor promoter sense it might be, but we’re unwavering believers in the power of community, of DIY culture and DIY spaces, which are needed now more than ever. Covering a dizzying spectrum of music for the dancefloor and beyond - we’ve got NTS mainstay, Lupini, who’s as comfortable lighting up a peak time dance as she is soundtracking your horizontal Sunday afternoons; folklorists and club deconstructionists, Morsel, who have been unpicking the seams between Manchester’s live and club scenes; London-based free rave esotericist, Tea Es Gee; local legend and half-time DnB wormhole summoner, Everett; multimedia artist and conjuror of liminal sound spaces, Jodi Venca; and more tba.
All insanely talented people and dear friends, it’s going to be a special one.
While this event is free, please do consider supporting Partisan. Their contribution to DIY culture in Manchester and provision of space for people who really need it is vitally important. With rents and bills skyrocketing it’s increasingly difficult to keep DIY spaces alive, at a time when we’re more reliant on them than ever. You can find a donation link to support Partisan below, or they can accept cash or card donations on the night. Any support would be massively appreciated.
Loads of love, hope to see you all soon.
Mike xx
