Self-Induced Limbo

👋🏻

These Stephen King breaks are not working for me. That's probably because I fail to work on anything else essay related during that window. The wind has died in my sails.

These past two weeks, I have just thought about how I have to get back to this Ragnarök essay and get it done. I have considered if it is even worth finishing and move onto another idea. This self-induced limbo is suffocating my creative push to make these essays. It's got to go.

Now I have to get back in the saddle and get to recording. I think once I actually look at the draft, I'll get in the groove. But, I have to actually do it.

Now, this doesn't mean that I didn't accomplish something during these two weeks. After Alan Wake I dove into Tunic, in part because it was on my annual games to beat list and I've always been curious about it's manual gimmick. I beat the game in 10 days. It soundly took over my mornings and evenings (when I had the energy). You can read my notes if you want a fuller picture of how I felt about the game. Those also include my hand-written notes over the map that I made during my playtime.

After that, I finally went back to this year's hotness Clair Obscur: Expedition 33. Some friends finally dove in and that gave me motivation to finish my own playthrough that I started at launch. I would not recommend taking a six month break near the end of the game. I came away from the game much cooler than seemingly everyone else. This sparked some good discussions with friends. Here are my notes on that one, if you are curious.

In the aftermath of those two games, I have a pretty strong idea for a new essay that brings them together. And possibly another one just about Clair Obscur. We shall see. That one will apparently upset a lot of people, which I won't lie, is enticing.

Tomorrow is Thanksgiving here in the States. I've got two birds to prepare for the deep fryer. I hope you all have a good time with friends and family. Get some game time in too.

Until next time...
