Little Family, bit of promotion

Hello everyone,

In less than 24 hours my daughter will be born! This will likely be one of the biggest changes in my life, and put new focus and pressure on my ability to be a meaningfully successful business boy.

I’ve sort of struggled to know what to write this week - I’ve not shared much of the journey to parenthood partially because I’ve enjoyed having some spaces where I can talk about all the other stuff that’s in my head. But, to cut a very long story short, I feel a mixture of excitement and a little sadness.

Today is the last day for the foreseeable future I can have a cheeky nap, play video games, go for a walk, make a racket, etc, without having an extra layer of planning, coordination with my partner, or doing those things with baby in tow. Of course that’s also a heartwarming feeling, as it’s nice to imaging walking to the post office with the pram and a happy baby along for the ride, it’s just a little more complex than pure excitement.

I’m proud that I’ve managed to push each project along to a fairly good place. I can take a week off and nothing will come crashing down. I’ve also been hustling my butt off and have plenty to share about upcoming collaborations in WA, NSW and (hopefully) Tasmania. People in my non-online life keep asking ‘are you working?’ by which they mean am I doing teaching work in schools - I’ve grown a little impatient at my inability to share with my friends and family that I work my arse off at my small business. I might be at home, or in the studio, but I’m spending 5, 6, 7, 8 + hours a day working, on weekends, on weekdays, during the Christmas period, etc. I enjoy that, of course, but it’s still work. I digress, I guess no one can share everything accurately !

Finally, I know this is a short one, I want to share a little promotion that I’ll be running the next week. As the baby comes I’m offering 25% off all books, merch and workshops - with the code GIRLDAD. We’ve had a period of getting lots of things ready for the baby and purchases now would be especially helpful. I feel a bit self conscious saying so, just at the tail end of the slow summer season I feel a bit more of an obligation to tell folks ‘hey if you’ve been meaning to grab something, book something, etc, now would actually be so good for me, if that sways ya’.

So if you’ve been thinking ‘oh I’ll get a cap later’ or ‘I’ll grab a book down the road’ or ‘I do want to do a workshop, I just haven’t booked’ then please consider getting a bit of a discount over the next seven days while we’re in hospital and coming home - it’d be especially delightful :)

Here’s a dorky dad like photo, taken by my good friend Barney.
