The Signal — Morning Briefing
by Mantis Money
MARKET SNAPSHOT
BTC is sitting at $81,198, up 6.1% over the last 24 hours. ETH is moving harder, up 7.5% to $2,633.96. Total market cap has pushed back to $2.78 trillion. The Fear and Greed Index reads 56 — Greed territory, but not at levels that typically precede an immediate flush. Cautious optimism is the read here.
DEFI PULSE
The top 10 pools across Ethereum, Base, and Arbitrum clocked serious volume overnight. A few things worth noting:
The BSW/USAD pool on Uniswap v4 (Base) was today's headline act — $258.8M in 24-hour volume against just $6.4M in TVL. That's an extraordinarily high volume-to-TVL ratio. The pool saw a 7.38% price move with a dead-even 50/50 buy-sell split. Something is moving through that pool at scale, and it's not retail noise.
WETH/USDC pools across Ethereum, Base, and Arbitrum combined for over $325M in volume, reflecting broad ETH demand as spot prices ran. The 0.3% fee tier on Uniswap v3 (Base) saw 12,288 transactions with 57% buys — directionally clear.
Stablecoin pairs (USDC/USDT, USDT/USDS) continue to do heavy lifting as liquidity rotates. Fluid's USDC/USDT pool on Ethereum quietly processed $71M with only 1,225 transactions — large average trade sizes, likely institutional or whale-level routing.
TOKEN MOVEMENTS
SOL — up 12.1%. Strongest performer in the top 10. No single catalyst, but SOL has been tracking risk-on sentiment closely and outperforming when ETH moves.
XRP — up 8.2%. Holding momentum from last week's regulatory clarity optimism in the US. Any SEC-related headline keeps XRP bid.
ETH — up 7.5%. On-chain data backs the move — WETH/USDC pools were buy-heavy and volume was substantial. Not just leverage; spot demand is real.
BNB — up 4.1%. Lagging the field but still constructive. Base chain activity may be pulling some attention away from BNB Chain.
TRX — up 1.1%. Effectively flat relative to the field. TRX has been a stablecoin rails play and it's behaving like one today.
HEADLINE EVENT
Starknet (STRK) is trending on CoinGecko alongside privacy coins Firo and Zano, and interoperability play NEAR. STRK has been under sustained selling pressure since its airdrop period, but renewed trending interest suggests a potential narrative reset around ZK-rollup infrastructure. Whether this is a genuine re-rate or a short-lived CoinGecko bump is the question worth watching through the week.
THE ALPHA
Today's top DeFi pool by volume — BSW/USAD on Uniswap v4 Base — processed $258.8M against $6.4M TVL with perfectly balanced buys and sells. That's a ratio that doesn't happen by accident. Alpha subscribers get the full breakdown on what this flow pattern typically signals, who's likely on the other side, and whether it's worth positioning around.
