The Signal — Morning Briefing

By Mantis Money

MARKET SNAPSHOT

BTC is sitting at $81,406, up 2.6% in the last 24 hours. ETH has clawed back 1.8% to $2,294.95. Total market cap holds at $2.79T. The Fear and Greed Index reads 34 — still in Fear territory, which means sentiment hasn't caught up with price action yet. Worth watching.

DEFI PULSE

Pool data is thin on the ground this morning — no qualifying pools matched our filters overnight. That said, on-chain activity tells a different story. Our alert system fired 634 times in the last 24 hours, with several red-flag transactions standing out. We tracked five near-identical transfers of 15,794 WETH — roughly $36.3 million each — moving between unknown wallets. That's the same transaction replicated five times, which is either a routing artefact or someone methodically moving a large position. Separately, multiple WBTC transfers of around 11 WBTC ($900K each) also pinged the system. Nothing confirmed malicious, but the pattern is unusual and worth monitoring.

TOKEN MOVEMENTS

XRP — $1.50 (+5.7%): The standout mover today. No single catalyst is confirmed, but XRP tends to run on regulatory sentiment and macro crypto momentum. With BTC pushing higher, XRP is catching a bid.

DOGE — $0.116 (+3.0%): Classic sympathy play. DOGE moves with BTC on risk-on days and still carries enough retail interest to outperform in green markets.

BTC — $81,406 (+2.6%): Grinding higher despite Fear and Greed sitting in the 30s. Divergence between price and sentiment often precedes continuation — or a sharp reversal. Neither camp has conviction right now.

SOL — $92.75 (+2.1%): Holding above $90 is meaningful support. SOL has been under pressure for weeks, so a close above $95 would shift the near-term structure.

FIGR_HELOC — $1.035 (-0.7%): The only notable red in the top 10. Low liquidity asset, minor movement — not a signal worth trading off.

HEADLINE EVENT

Privacy coins are trending this morning — Firo and Zano both showing up on CoinGecko's trending list alongside Hyperliquid and Pudgy Penguins' PENGU token. Privacy coin interest often cycles up during periods of regulatory uncertainty or macro stress. With Fear and Greed still deep in the fear zone and broader market sentiment cautious, it's not surprising to see capital rotating into assets with censorship-resistance narratives. Whether this is a short-term spike or the start of a sustained move is the question.
