Spring Break Anti-Sale

I should be on my way to Los Angeles. If I was an idle rich, as the Lord intended, I would be there now, just waking up, enjoying a nice cup of coffee preparatory to a day of lounging on the beach, wishing I could surf, thinking, I should just try it, I should take a lesson, but never getting around to it, being so inherently idle. Instead I am here, bound to this spot because I am bound to my job and can’t afford to miss the days I would need to go to Los Angeles.

So I won’t be at AWP this year. The good news is, Malarkey will. We got a table. I’ve sent a big load of books out. T-shirts too. And several of our writers will be there, taking turns at the table. Alex Miller. Itoro Bassey. LJ Pemberton. Sheldon Birnie. Spencer Fleury. They’ll all be reading on Wednesday, March 26, at 5 p.m. at 4100 Bar, 1087 Manzanita Street in Los Angeles.

If you can’t make it to AWP, we can bring AWP to you, not the whole conference, just the books that you would have found at our table.

It’s spring break for me but I’m not going to the beach. I will, I hope, be going to the post office. If book sales pick up a little. I don’t know if it’s the dissolution of twitter or the economy or the general magnifcation of the hellworldization of everything, but our sales are down, which is the opposite of where they need to be. In order to get sales facing in the right direction (up), we are announcing a Massive Spectacular Spring Break Anti-Sale Extravaganza. I do not have a giant discount code to offer, but books like Hair Shirt, Boxcutters, Detective Novel, and The Barre Incidents, are on sale, and most of our other titles are at least for sale. The nice thing about selling books at full price is we get more money. So you’re invited to dig through our catalogue and see if anything catches your fancy. Shipping is $6 now, which I personally think is ridiculous. I’m really annoyed about it. I would love to speak with DeJoy about it. Just me and him. Alone. We have lost so much goddamn money on shipping and that’s why it’s $6 now. Here’s the loophole on your end: shipping is $6 if you buy one book, and $6 if you buy ten books. We also offer free shipping on all ebooks.
