MVKB Update #1: ePBT Camo, GMK Diner
*inhales*
Alright, welcome to the first MVKB update/newsletter/whatever you want to call this. Here's a batch of updates:
New website
You might have seen this one, but just in case you haven't: mvkb.com is now live, and includes all the sets I'm working on (even the ones that aren't in IC yet).
ePBT Camo
On the surface, progress on Camo might look stale, but in the background, a lot has been happening.
Better renders
If you go to the Camo page on the new website, you're greeted with a ton of new renders I've been working on the past couple of weeks.
The initial renders (for which I paid an artist) were absolutely beautiful, but I asked for them to be moody, which resulted in skewed colors. So these new renders are less good (because I did them and I've only been doing 3D stuff for a couple of weeks), but a whole lot closer to what the eventual set will look like.
Samples have been ordered
Working with KBDFans on a full set of samples. They're in the process of producing a mold for this set. ETA is unclear, but we want to make sure the samples are solid before launching a GB. This set is pretty tricky to produce (full reverse dyesub), and I'd rather spend an extra couple of weeks getting the details right than ship a faulty product.
Deskmat samples have arrived
And they look awesome. Final deskmats will have transparent edges, but I'm already in love with these.
White pen added because I couldn't get the light in my office right.
Salvun artisans preview
The master himself Mr. Salvun shared this photo of prototypes of the artisans he designed for Camo. Holy poop aren't these amazing?! Both should be available, the left one matching the Camo theme, the one on the right Radio Silence.
Please don't share. Design details might change before the official announcement.
GMK Diner
Depending on when the samples for Camo are ready, GMK Diner might go into IC sooner rather than later. This set was inspired by something Myke Hurley said in a conversation. It's a throwback to the typical diners you saw in sitcoms in the 90's.
Kitting is pretty much done (many people reviewed it, none of them were able to agree on everything, so I had to make some calls) and sent to GMK for a first round of pricing, and at least 2 big vendors are confirmed (too early to share which ones though).
That's it. I'm sorry, I promised short updates, but there was just a lot of news to share, and I like being transparent about what I'm working on. I'm excited about all this (if you couldn't tell). Feel free to reply to this email if you have any questions!
