2 - Letters to No One

Written on Day № 11,156

It need not be heard
But sometimes that's not the point
It needs to be said

There is incredible value in silence. Others have demonstrated that far more ably than I could. And they're right.

But while most things don't need to be heard, I think there may be value in the saying. Like a diary or a journal. Or talking to yourself while out on a walk in the forest.

It's a common therapeutic technique to write letters to people you are angry at or feel have hurt you. And most of the time the hypothetical recipient never actually receives the letter, much less reads it. The value is to the person doing the writing. Making sure nothing is left unsaid.

That's what I think this newsletter may become for me. A place to put thoughts for myself, without thinking too much about the audience.

Of course, you are still more than welcome to continue reading or to share with others. Hopefully thinking about it this way will actually help me write shorter and more honestly. But these are primarily my letters to no one.

That's a great name. "Letters to No One" Maybe I need to change the name. What do you think?
