A Zine and Some Mutual Aid
It’s time to democratize the printing (and cutting, and folding) process! I’ve made a mini zine (which is a homemade, very small print run magazine) on the subject of mutual aid, and I’m sharing it with you. It’s printable on one side of one 8 ½ x 11 piece of paper, and when you’ve printed it there are easy instructions to fold it into a 4-page booklet. You can make one for yourself, make some for your friends, or make a bunch and put them in coffee shops, laundromats, or wherever someone might want a tiny inspiration.
I chose mutual aid as the topic because I was seeing people online confusing mutual aid with charity (“I already donate to the food bank”) and missing the full scope of all the cool things mutual aid can be. A neighborhood Halloween costume swap; a tool lending library; a babysitting co-op where people take turns watching each others’ kids after school. No matter what, having a robust network of mutual aid in your community makes it a healthier and friendlier place to live. Make a tiny zine and get started!
