Listen Here #5
Hello dear friends,
Tomorrow is my birthday! Thank you to everyone who sent me songs about love! I am feeling it!!
So if you didn’t see it on IG… my Mom wins at song submissions. She, in fact, won it so completely that I didn’t even know it was a competition until she won it.

Shoot dang! What’s this dust in my eyes???? Thanks Mom <3 <3 <3 <3 <3
In fact, there were so many songs shared, I’m going to split up the love into a two-parter. The rest of the love list will be shared next week!
Because some people messaged the songs to me via IG, the format of today’s and next week’s newsletter is a little different than usual.
Enjoy the love, from me to you,
<3 Lauren

Notes: Love songs to a collective
Song/Artist: You’re Gonna Leave by Stephen Marley
Loved by: Merlyn
Song/Artist: Kiss by Scout Niblett; Are You In Love? By Basia Bulat
Loved by: Hayley
Notes: Letting the music just carry away with overwhelming emotion
Song/Artist: Ever New by Beverley Glenn-Copeland
Loved by: Rose
Notes: Self-love
Song/Artist: Beauty by The Shivers
Genre: Indie?
Feels like: Soft, melancholic, romantic
Loved by: Madeline
Why I love this song: It is both how I want to love and be loved, and never ceases to give me pause when it comes on. It’s simply beautiful to me.
Other context: It was my most listened to song last year, and will probably be in the Top 10 again this year.
Song/Artist: Manchester by Kishi Bashi
Genre: Orchestral Noise
Feels like: Expansive
Loved by: Lauren
Why I love this song: The sonic landscape of this song is so dense - it feels truly sweeping - lush and Romantic - but I like thinking about the lyrics not as a strictly romantic gesture, but as that kind of expansion and wonder you can feel with any kind of new connection 💓
Other context: Kishi Bashi is GOOD live. The live looping of the violin is incredible.
Song/Artist: If I Needed You sung by Emmylou Harris
Genre: Country
Feels like: Painfully beautiful and pure
Loved by: Sara
Why I love this song: I love Townes' original version but Emmylou Harris has the voice of an actual angel. Listening to this song is so comforting, it feels like the purest expression of love to me. It also definitely transcends romantic love, it's deeper than that.
I’m just overjoyed to have so many beautiful friends and so many beautiful songs to listen to as I ring in 36! Stay tuned for Part 2 of the LOVE list next week <3
