little Laser update
Hiiii!
On September 18 2024, I wrote myself a little note and it went like this:
When I am at peace I think my dream job is producer. I know so many goddamn talented people who need to make their things. Artists who have important messages for an audience. And when I am a producer, each thing I make is about a way of life. Has a mission, a goal to make you think differently in some way.
On Sept 22, I got a used canvas from a thrift store and made a way-too big painting of my “logo idea” that looked like this:
For my birthday a couple months later, I ran a “30 second film festival” asking my friends to finish one, short, beautiful film. A bunch of them did and it was amazing.
I’m really happy right now because I feel like with all of that, I manifested LASERVISION PRODUCTIONS into existence.
Yes, I am working at Complexly full-time and it is amazing, I am currently crowdfunding a new series hosted by Hank Green himself!
But also, on my nights and weekends I’m doing a bunch more, PLUS I’ve hired two wonderful people (see their bios on this page) to help out when I can’t do the work cause I have a day job.
Is this how business works? I don’t know (does anyone want to invest in my business?), but it’s what’s happening. And here’s what we’re doing!
PRODUCING A SHOW! I am hosting a show by myself for the first time (other than my birthday last year,) and have booked 10 of the funniest weirdos that I know to each do 5 minutes of something. If you’re in LA, you will come and you will enjoy character and music and comedy from people who are kind and more than 50% trans. Join us!
Not in LA? Then you may not know that Dynasty Typewriter is one of the coolest spots in town for comedy. Speaking of Izzy… her film D(e)ad is coming to theaters around the country soon (we’re planning the tour right now!). So make sure you’re on the list!
We’re also working on a feature film and a podcast I can’t tell you about yet… that’s right, I’m producing a feature film. Careful what you wish for, me from last September!
Outside of Laservision, I am working still on my nonprofit Trans Stories which will very soon have things to announce!
