The most disturbing thing isn't the part to dwell on

It's not like the apocalypse is the end of the world

Dream Journal Dream Journal

At the edge of vision an explosion starts, slowly. We see it unfolding as slowly as a night-blooming cactus, and consider things slowly in a detached way. It's an explosion. It looks big. There are lots of people around us and they haven't noticed. Do we tell them, is it worth saying to hide behind something, as the shockwave passes? We have a safe space already.

Okay, we decide to tell them a shockwave is coming, and the people around us presumably hide behind things. Some choose to hide behind glass. Do we say to maybe move? The explosion is getting further along and has fired into the sky already, there is now black smoke. Well... let them take their chances if they wish. The shockwave will come soon, but it feels slow.

The glass shatters, and we pick the shards out of the windowsill slowly, absentmindedly. It would be easier to get out of this structure if the glass wasn't sharp, so we don't get cut. There may be no medical supplies out there.

Dreamlike we slowly exit the window, seeing others do it less carefully. A pitchfork is in our hands now. Civilisation has collapsed. There are people forming gangs already, we guess this will have to be our gang. Resignation, slowness. We're still in the lead though.

Another gang approaches, 'armed' with what the city offers. We retreat; our team surges forwards, the conflict is avoided... our team washes back. The movement is like waves, languid.

We find a space to rest. Everyone finds space in an old mansion that has many rooms that didn't get blasted by the explosion. Everyone has no energy. We start giving them a simple whack with the pitchfork. While surprised, they don't otherwise respond.

A process of transmutation begins slowly, and allows us time to respond to it.

Much happens below consciousness, and it can seem daily life is the dream.

What happens when you allow the listless past to follow you round?
It's different to being overwhelmed. It's different to being bored. And it isn't even something you're stuck in.

Whack 'em, cut them free, let them take their own chances. The energy in the dream surges in the distance, runs through the city streets. Get outside and take your stake!
