Too Hot, Too Quiet (and a Reading!)
Friends, it’s brutally hot out there, so I’m in my house being very grateful for air conditioning. It’s freakishly quiet here: Elliot is at sleep-away camp for the first time (!) for 2 weeks (!!), and Sam took Alex to Boston to start looking at colleges (!!!).
It’s also quiet on the book front; advance review copies, or ARCs, of ORDINARY DEVOTION are making their way to review outlets, while the final corrections flagged by the proofreader and I are being added into the really and truly FINAL version of the book (it’s standard practice for ARCs to go out before every single typo is fixed).
So, no big new book news at this exact moment, but maybe you remember when I wrote this. And, maybe you know that, this past winter I did a writers residency here. Well, in a few weeks I’ll be heading back up to beautiful Hortus Arboretum, in my hometown of Stone Ridge, for a poetry reading featuring 3 poets who have all benefited from the time and space of a Hortus Writers Residency! Here are the details, if you find yourself in the area:
Poetry in the Garden
Saturday, July 21, 3pm at Hortus Arboretum & Botanical Garden
Poets Kristen Holt-Browning, Kasey Jueds, and Walter Smelt III will read from their new and recent books. The arboretum grounds will be open, and light refreshments will be served.
Stay cool, my friends,
Kristen
