new look, same newsletter!
Hello!
Yes, this newsletter looks different than the one I sent a few weeks ago. The one that showed off the cover of my book, remember? Because I like it so much, here it is again:

As I was saying, the formatting here might look different, because I'm using Buttondown instead of Substack to create my newsletters. I still plan on sending monthly (occasionally twice-a-month) updates on the progress of my book, and any related events or readings I might have coming up.
Speaking of that book, did you know you can preorder it here or here? It's true!
Finally, as promised last time, a book recommendation from me:
I just read Scorched Grace and Blessed Water by Margot Douaihy, the first books in the Sister Holiday series, as well as the first books published by Gillian "Gone Girl" Flynn's new publishing imprint. I am not usually a mystery reader, but I gobbled these two up: Sister Holiday is a queer, punk rock nun who lives in New Orleans and solves crimes (that is a very appetizing word salad right there!). Margot read at Beacon's very own Stanza Books (a wonderful shop!) and she was smart and fabulous. Her characters are sharply drawn individuals who grapple with some awfully big themes (trauma, religious belief...did I mention trauma?), but the books are fast-paced and fun.
Until next time, friends!
