Leap Day Update
Hey you guys!
The Castaways & Conspiracies Kickstarter ends at midnight tonight, so if you haven't reserved your copy yet you're running out of time. Million-Colored Sun ended last week with enough funding to hit the stretch goal for interior art by James V. West.
Last week I posted a glossary of Boomlands Lingo to the Diner Punks World Anvil page. A version of the glossary appears in Leighton's Swann Castle book, but this one has a few updates and changes.
Here's a picture I made in Daz3D during the latest session of Leighton's Old School Essentials game:
Up until now, Leighton's been using the Evils of Illmire campaign, but we just started In Search of the Unknown to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of D&D.

Islands in the Net by Bruce Sterling continues my long tradition of being disappointed by cyberpunk novels. Sterling builds a cool setting, but it feels like most of actual story takes place off-screen. The heroine just kind of gets dragged from place to place by the people who are actually doing things. Overall its very William Gibson-y, right down to the most interesting ideas being teased but never explored.
TV & Movies
I finished My Name is Earl, but was disappointed to find out that not only did it end mid-season, it ended on part 1 of a "To Be Continued..." episode.
I saw a Facebook post about Among the Shadows, a low-budget Underworld knock-off starring Lindsay Lohan, so of course I had to watch it. Unfortunately, it's just kind of bad, not bad in an interesting or entertaining way. After a while I was mostly watching it to try to guess which Lindsay Lohan scenes were actually filmed on set with other actors (most of them were in front of a green screen, probably alone).
I must have been in a werewolf mood, because I also watched Werewolves Within. The movie stars a whole lot of people you know you've seen in other things but can't quite place; the only two I could identify were Guillermo from What We Do in the Shadows and Milana Vayntrub (who most people know as the girl from the AT&T commercials). The early part of the movie, where the local mail carrier (Vayntrub) shows the new park ranger around town, introducing him to its quirky inhabitants, was my favorite part. After the set-up it's basically just a bunch of people locked up in the local bed and breakfast playing real life Are You A Werewolf? Not one to seek out, but a decent enough no-brainer werewolf horror/comedy.
I couldn't remember if I ever saw the last few episodes of True Detective season 3, so I rewatched it before starting season 4 (I know they're not related, but still). Turns out I had seen it, but it was a good season and it's been a while so I have no regrets. I've only watched the first episode of the new season, but I like the The Thing vibe and John Hawkes has never let me down before.
That's all I've got for now. See you next time.

Steve
