It's Beginning To Look A Lot Like Something
Hey guys,
I meant to sent this yesterday, but fell down a rabbit hole and decided to do it next week. Then I remembered I’d be out of town next week, so I’m sending it today. I’m knee-deep in the apocalypse right now, so this will be another quick one.
So yeah, it’s been all Diner Punks since the last newsletter. I’m currently at 6960 out of the 10,000 words I signed on to write this month for World Ember and I’ve also been working on the actual book text and thinking about layout in the background. You can read the entries at the Diner Punks World Anvil Page or at The Death Cookie a day or so later. Alternately, you can see all my entries for this year’s World Ember here.
Here’s a picture I did of two people moto-jousting:

Normally during World Ember I kind of randomly try to write entries for as many categories as possible (since each category has a prize). Since I never win the prizes, I decided to focus on stuff I need for the book this year. Over the weekend I finished the last of the write-ups for the regions of the Boomlands (though I need to update a few older ones eventually), all of which will end up in the book in some form. Now that those are done, I can go a little more into the weeds with the other 3000 words.
Media:
Currently reading Roadside Picnic, a Russian post-apocalypse-adjacent novel.
I kind of got out of the habit of logging movies and TV shows during my month of not doing much. I’ve gotten better, but there are probably some here I’m missing.
Currently watching the 12 Monkeys TV series. So far it just seems like a loner version of the movie, but it’s good. Stevie from Schitt’s Creek plays the Brad Pitt character.
Wake Up A Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery: Very good, but it would have been better if everyone but Blanc was a Muppet.
Stranger Things: I’m sure you’ve watched the half-season as well.
Death Racers: This is a super low-budged Death Race rip-off starring the Insane Clown Posse. It’s terrible but fun.
The Chair Company: I’ve watched the first season, but I’m still not entirely sure if I like it.
The Phoenecian Scheme: A Wes Anderson movie where Benetio Del Toro travels with complimentary hand grenades? I’m in.
The Rats: A Witcher Tale: Remember those scrappy orphans who were massacred at the end of the last season? Turns out Dolph Lundgren was their grizzled old mentor.
That’s all I’ve got for now. See you next month.
TYVM
Steve
