Updates & Random Thoughts
- Not sure if I mentioned it last week, but I finally finished The Six-Gun Seven, my first "mini-game" (it was 15,000+ words) for my Patreon followers. Sometime between starting it and posting it my patronage jumped into the "mini-games have art" milestone, so I've recruited Juan Navarro (whose work has appeared in Qerth, Weird Times at Charles Fort High, and Hobomancer) to provide a cover and a piece of interior art. Based on the early sketches, they're going to be great.
- I've started re-working Cinemechanix, complete with a couple of rules changes to streamline things. You can get a copy of the most recent version of the rules and keep up with new developments by joining the playtest group on Facebook.
- I took this week off at the game blog, but the eternal D&D review continues.
- It would be petty of me to mention what happened to a certain arrogant prick with a dumb hat this week, so I mostly won't.
- I'm not familiar with the old legends of Monkey, but I'm kind of enjoying the New Legends of Monkey.
- Rampage was more enjoyable than it had any right to be.
- There's a Norwegian named Leo who does metal covers on Youtube. You should go watch a bunch of them now. It will make you happy.
Crepuscular #1
Josh Burnett made a thing for Dungeon Crawl Classics. You should buy it.
Word of the Week
Brainfart Press will eventually release a dictionary of words nobody particularly needs to know, tentatively titled (with apologies to Ambrose Bierce) "The Dumbass Dictionary." Here's one of those words:
Freddy Kruger Effect:
A cognitive bias that causes rap artists to overestimate the appeal of a song about a horror movie character. Notable victims include Will Smith and The Fat Boys.
