Festive Holiday Headline
Hey everybody, time for another newsletter.
I’ve got a couple promotions running on Patreon until Christmas Eve. Use coupon code 9F7D2 to get 50% off your first month’s membership and code F68D7 for 10% off purchases at the store.
As usual, I’ll be writing at least 10,000 words this month as part of World Anvil’s Worldember event. This year, I’m not necessarily focusing on a particular world, so I might do stuff for Dine Punks, City of Ten Thousand Daggers, Milieurth, and the Hex Ficton. Since World Anvil does things on London time, I was able to get started last night with a Hex Ficton article about Middle Dakota.
After several weeks of just not getting around to it, I’ve finally finished the layout for The Red Witch of Chapel d’Angoisee for Million-Colored Sun. As long as there are no big layout problems, it’ll go on sale next Sunday.
I’m also continuing to work on QAGS 3E and my ZineQuest project, and have started work on a new map for the City of Ten Thousand Daggers.
Books
I’ve still got about 100 pages of Huck Finn left, in part because I took a break to read It’s Not You, It’s Capitalism by Malika Jabali, which is the most entertaining book about an economic system I’ve read in a while.
TV
Finally finished both Vikings and Sprung and recommend them both. I also watched It’s Florida, Man in one sitting (it’s just 6 half-hour episodes). It seemed like the kind of idea where there wasn’t much room for ambiguity: it would either work or it would fail. Luckily, it worked.
Movies
It’s What’s Inside is a very forgettable horror flick about body swapping. It’s not a total waste of time, but it’s also not a good way to spend a couple hours.
Deadpool/Wolverine: Yeah, I saw it in the when it was released, but it was so much fun I had to see it again.
Vacation Friends: I was looking for something funny and John Cena hasn’t let me down yet. Not one of his bests, but still entertaining.
Palm Springs: I’d never heard of this one, but it had Andy Samberg so I gave it a try. Turns out it’s a time loop movie. It’s not terrible, but it’s no Groundhog Day.
Alien Romulus: Watching this movie is one of the many ways you could spend two hours.
Money Plane: I’ve been wanting to watch this since How Did This Get Made? did an episode about it, and it was every bit as stupid as I’d hoped it would be.
Anthony Jeselnik: Bones and All: Most comedians who specialize in shock value just kind think of shocking things to say and then say them. Jeselnik does things a little differently: he thinks of shocking things to say and then writes really funny jokes around saying them. It’s more Bob Saget than Andrew “Dice” Clay.
That’s all I got for this week. Enjoy your holidays.

Steve
