Er… quicker than usual. Basically, due to a spreadsheet error, I gave you bad information on Wednesday. The order cut off for The Power Fantasy’s glorious return isn’t November 16th. It’s November 9th. As in, Monday. So if you want to secure a copy, you’ll have to talk to your retailer beofre then.
Anyway…

The Power Fantasy is coming back on December 7th. We have 2 covers which you can order freely, which are these beauties. The order codes are…
Caspar’s Cover: 1026IM0300
Toru Terada’s Cover: 1026IM0301
And here’s the preview for the issue. You can also look at it on the binding site, where I made its own link page. I suspect the spread will get bigger impact if you look at it there instead of here if you’re on a 16:9 monitor. Click, if you are. Though Bindings is down at the time of writing, so maybe not. Man!

Ooh, look. Perspective Captions in the Power Fantasy. Whatever have we come to?
If you want to share it with folks, this is the link: https://bindings.app/l/tpf17. It also links to the full primer, so they can explore.
Anyway. Sorry for bumping into an inbox twice, but obviously, this one is important.

Oh – and here’s the teaser I put on the socials.

The Criminal trailer has dropped, and looks really neat. The series-made-of-short-series is just really a confident way to approach the material.
Jacobin essay on the marxist historian Eric Hobsbawn is a good overview piece about him. I have a lot of time for Hobsbawn, and his “An Age Of…” series are really worth consuming.
A quicker turn around in newsletters means I go and check out links that have backed up, and realise I haven’t linked to Natalie Guest writing about her fledgling relationship with her cat, and being alone, together. Natalie’s diary-mode precise honesty is always great for me.

Upgrade nowYeah, you can imagine that moving all the hyping The Power Fantasy and retailer out-reach from next week to this week isn’t exactly ideal – though now I’ve mostly done it, I’m thinking it may be for the best. Next week was already going to be cramped, with the lead up to Thought Bubble. That I no longer have to do this means that I actually will have more time then.
It does mean that I won’t be finishing this synopsis today, but that’s also okay. Progress has been made, and I think I’ve just solved the final problem with bringing it to a climax, by moving focus from the lead to a supporting cast member during a core scene. This also means there’s a better fight at the end, which is always handy in a punch-centric genre, which this is.
However, it does mean today is especially cramped. There’s one last tweak on The Power Fantasy 17 we want to do before hitting GO at the printer. It should be done by the time you read this, as it’s a lettering tweak in the first two pages – it’s realising something in the worldbuilding didn’t reach the page, and will be confusing to be mentioned.
I’m really pleased with the issue – that we have 5 issues drawn does mean we can see the shape of the thing. It’s unconventional, I suspect, but it’s also got a real drive and heart to it, and Caspar makes the pages sing. I really can’t wait for you to see it.
Also, DIE: Loaded 11 was sent off, and DIE: Loaded 12 sent in. As there’s a little space before that needs to be signed off, Stephanie is cramming in two more pages to give a bit more closure to other bits of the plot, which is well in the realm of “additive” rather than “necessary”, which means that I owe her another bottle of fine wine and the best bread a human can find.
Speak soon.
