We Called Them Giants is now out everywhere – both book and comic shops, no matter the distributor. I wrote about it last time, so click through for all the excellent previews and general chat. I don't want to run them all again here, because there will be more art in this newsletter, and it could get a little overloaded. If you want it digitally,
it's here (US UK CA).
Initial responses to the book have been fantastic, and Stephanie and I are just delighted it's finally in everyone's hands. Go get it! I'll be doing more drum beating in the coming months (I wanted to do a trailer, but clearly with the move and everything else, time ran out.)
So this will be a curt newsletter. I have high hopes things are going to get more spacious towards the holidays, so will have more room to do things other than the basics.
I wouldn't normally put a FOC alert this high in the newsletter, but there's some atypical schedule stuff I want to draw attention to.
The short version that FOC for The Power Fantasy #5 is on Monday Nov 18th (i.e. coming Monday) before issue 4 drops next week. This is all Christmas schedules compounding, leading to a variety of sub-optimum options, and this seems the best one.
As such – if you haven't talked to your retailer yet about your love of The Power Fantasy and your desire to continue reading? Do so, ASAP. They'll be glad to hear it and we'll owe you.
It's Thought Bubble weekend, the official end of the season. I'm in A-11 in the Travelling man Hall, right next to Caspar. Come and say Hi. I'll have a bunch of stuff, including a load of WE CALLED THEM GIANTS. Want a map that I've doodled on? I can provide...
Chrissy is also tabling, and she's done a map which is much better than mine.
I've got one panel, In Stars and Shadows: Folklore and Mythology in Comics in Panel Room 2 at 4:30 on Saturday, with John Reppion, B. Mure and Juni Ba. Chrissy is running her poetry comics workshop between 11-12 on Saturday and on Silence to Astonish between 2-3 on Saturday. There's also the Midcon party at Mojo Harrogate where the DJs have been organised by Comrade Sarah Gordon, and I may be showing my face, decks and dancing shoes.
Come say Hi!
The Power Fantasy #4 drops next week. Here's a quick two page teaser, from early in the issue. We didn't want to give away the opening.
That Etienne Lux!
Out next week, where we have more of that and a lot of Masumi stressing the fuck out.
Hey! The Heart Actual Play I'm GMing is now Live. You can listen to 'Till Death Do We Heart here. The first three parts are live, as well as an extra session zero where we do Character Generation. Honestly, listen for many reasons, but especially to hear Naomi's German Accent for her no-handed bee-filled gnoll.
Also, as I googled to get the Link, and discovered someone's already made a TV Tropes page. That is keen. If you want a taste of what we're up to, this gives some greatest hits.
Aftermath write about videogame journo's rates. It's bleak out there.
Latest Update from RRD about Hollows include some Daniel Vega's work in progress art for one of the creatures that await you in the Hollow I wrote (Hollow is Hollow's word for “Scenario”).
Comic Book Resources review issue 1 of The Power Fantasy. I quite like this happening – just review stuff whenever.
Well, at least the move went well.
