Book Review
Verity by Colleen Hoover
…but I have to say that if I was ever stuck in a hospital or airport without reading material, I would most likely find her name on the gift shop bookshelf and would not hesitate to pick up one of her novels!

How I found this book:
A friend mentioned this book to me at a group dinner out. She said the novel brought up things about motherhood that bothered her a lot, and I thought that sounded interesting. I pulled it up on Libby on my phone at the dinner table, and she verified that: Yep! This is the one!
I ended up reading it from start to finish the next evening.
About this book:
This is a romance-thriller. I never thought of such a thing! It was a gripping combination.
My mind quickly clickety-clacked through the book: there was a nice pace, a clear direction, smooth rails, interesting scenery, times of illumination and times of darkness, all lead by a strong and confident narrator-engine. There were no plot holes or unintended distractions. It was a thrilling and lovely journey, with a drop-turn at the end, making me rethink the solid story line again and again: was the story really this way? or that way…?
The romance had a strong foothold in chivalry, (which I could have done without, but we can talk about my issues with chivalry later,)…but that’s the attractive and expected social narrative–so, I get it. Otherwise, the romance was quite compelling!
And the motherhood issue? Well, you’ll just have to read it for yourself…

A few weeks later, I found myself in the book aisle at Walmart helping my sister-in-law choose books for Christmas presents…and there, at eye level, were a dozen pretty, paperback books by Colleen Hoover.
So, I guess she’s a big deal! And it appears that I’m a little late to the pop-literature scene (not surprising)…but I have to say that if I was ever stuck in a hospital or airport without reading material, I would most likely find her name on the gift shop bookshelf and would not hesitate to pick up one of her novels!
