Honing In is HERE!
welcome to my new podcast
Before I dive into today’s exciting news, I want to send my love to anyone who has been affected by the fires in southern California. I’m relieved that my close friends who live there are safe, but many folks have lost everything in the fire. If you’d like to help out and have the funds to do so, I invite you to check out Rachel Davies’s resource “Where to donate to people who’ve lost their homes in the LA fires,” which includes a long list of GoFundMe accounts that are less than 30% funded.
I have some thrilling news to share…
I officially released my podcast, Honing In!
Honing in is a podcast for creative thinkers where we'll hone our skills, explore our passions, and nurture our dream projects into being.
Starting a podcast feels like a natural next step for me at this point in my career, and now that it’s here I’m certain it was the right choice for me. I’ve been blogging and writing newsletters since 2018, and I’m ready to expand my presence online by interviewing artists, writers, business owners, and other creatives about their projects. I’ll still publish helpful newsletters, though—don’t worry!
My first episode of Honing In is a solo episode where I talk through why I started the podcast, share reflections on what it means to approach creativity as a project, and I offer some tips for starting your own projects in a way that feels more sustainable.
I have a list of phenomenal guests lined up, and for now my plan is to release one episode per month on the third Wednesday of the month. I’ll share my first interview next week and send you all an email via Substack when it’s available.
You can listen to Honing In here on Substack or you can listen and via Apple Podcasts or Spotify. I’ll link directly to my first episode below:

Announcements
I was recently interviewed on The Personal Finance for PhDs Podcast and enjoyed my conversation with host Emily Roberts, where we considered the overlaps between productivity and finances and I shared my own financial journey as a self-employed PhD. You can listen to our episode here.
Now Booking Coaching Clients for February and March
I am currently building a waitlist of clients who want to start 6-month Success & Accountability Coaching packages in March—which is a perfect amount of time for folks who want support on their projects over spring and summer. Success & Accountability Coaching is for folks who are working on long-term, complex projects, like a dissertation, article, book proposal, book, or other creative and scholarly project. If you’re curious about working together, I encourage you to book a 30-minute Discovery Call so we can chat about how I can support you on your projects and goals this year.
If you’re looking for support in a single coaching session, my books are currently open for February and you can schedule yourself in directly here.
Thanks so much for being a reader of Tending and a listener of Honing In. I’m really proud of myself for starting the podcast and can’t wait to bring you on the journey with me!
Take care and talk soon,
Dr. Kate
