Contemplating Practice and Presence
honing in with gabrielle ione hickmon
I’m excited to introduce you to today’s guest on Honing In, Gabrielle Ione Hickmon.
I’ve wanted to interview a ceramicist since I first launched the podcast, and I was thrilled to hear Gabrielle talk about her practice not only for making ceramics, but also other forms of visual art, writing, and research.
We also discussed how surviving breast cancer impacted and influenced Gabrielle’s practice and creative works, which explore Black women’s experiences with breast cancer. She also walks us through a day in her studio, which was such a treat for a ceramics lover like me!
I hope you’ll check out my interview with Gabrielle on my website or your favorite podcast app.
