The Lion, the Witch, the Audacity of This Bitch

Picture of Kalpar's backyard with a groundhog sitting bold as brass on the back steps.

So the chicken wire didn’t work.

When I last sent out an email to all of you my spouse and I were going to set up chicken wire to keep out the groundhog(s) who keep raiding my spouse’s garden. An hour after going outside my spouse looked out to discover that groundhogs can just climb chicken wire like a ladder. So that plan did not work at all. Also to add insult to injury it turns out I got covered in poison ivy and I am highly sensitive to poison ivy. Several doses of prednisone and quite a lot of skin peeling later I have recovered, but the groundhogs remain undefeated.

What Else is Kalpar Doing

So we went to the Dayton Convention Center for the Gothic Market last weekend, a big thank-you to everyone who came out. We greatly appreciate it. The mushroom familiars were a big hit with everyone and I’ve been very busily painting some more for Key City in August. Speaking of Key City…

Merchant announcement from Key City Steampunk, August 8th-10th at the Wyndham Gettysburg in Gettysburg, PA

I think I’m more or less ready for Steam City. If you’re coming be sure to let me know! I don’t think anyone on the subscriber list lives in Pennsylvania but it can’t hurt to ask. I’ll have a table in one of the hallways where I’ll have books, calligraphy prints, and minis for sale. After that I don’t have anything for this calendar year on the schedule but I am working on plotting out next year’s schedule. Is there a fantasy or steampunk convention near you that you’d like to see Kalpar at? Make sure to let me know!

I’ve also been working on writing more Silas & Bundersnoot. It’s currently at about 36,000 words? I don’t know where it’s going to end up being length-wise. I have a goal of 50,000 words but where the story takes me the story will take me. We’ll see what happens.

Anyway, that’s pretty much all that’s going on right now, just thought I’d send out a quick little update. Hopefully everyone’s keeping their sanity right now.

Your friend in books and trains,

— Kalpar
