Safely home from Louisville
Hello, everyone, we’re back. Well, have been back from Louisville. Bourbon City Steam wasn’t much of a success and due to a family emergency we missed the closing ceremonies so I have no idea who won the short story competition. But these things happen and we’ll just keep chugging along despite it all.
Epehmera Status Report
Draya, my cover artist, should have the cover finished and to me by the middle of April. I’ve seen some of the preliminary work and I think it looks great, but xey’re nervous that it won’t look right. I can guarantee it’ll be better than anything I could have come up with, though. Once xey get the cover to me I will do the final work so I can get Ephemera to the printers and in the hands of all of you who backed the Kickstarter. I’m also thinking about a book launch party for this one but I want to hold off on planning that for now. Rest assured, though, the book is on its way.

So I’m over on Bluesky and I came across Dax Murray who’s an independent fantasy author and they said they’ve been dealing with a lot of people pirating their books. Which sucks. A lot. Especially because they’re an independent author and dependent on sales of their books for income. Anyway I took a look at their website and it seems they mostly write LGBTQ+ Epic Fantasy/Romance novels and I know some of you nerds are into that so I’m going to go ahead and share the link where you can buy direct from Dax.

Dax Murray | Author
Dax writes high fantasy where kingdoms fall, and witches rise. Dax spends too much time daydreaming and not enough time writing. You can find Dax most often at toot.cat/@chaoscatgirl. Dax called the metro DC area home, where they reside with their too-intelligent service dog, and their too-clever cat. They are also frequent travelers to Eorzea. In addition to writing fiction, Dax sometimes writes code and music and draws lines in the sand. Ask them about unionizing cats. Dax is the author of ...
Upcoming Events
As I’ve mentioned I’ve got two events coming up this summer, the Gothic Market in Dayton, Ohio on July 19th and 20th, and Key City Steampunk in Gettysburg, PA August 8th-10th. If you know of any other events, particularly anything close to my home base of Cincinnati, please let me know because I am always looking for further opportunities to sell my books.
Rate My Familiar
The call has not been unanswered, and we actually got a familiar to rate today! This familiar is from sheep lady Rachel—
Hang on. Sheep lady Rachel. This isn’t another sheep is it? I was very firm. No more sheep!
Good news! It’s a cat! Specifically Little Blue Cat! Although according to Rachel she’s been missing and she’s hoping you can help find her.
Oh thank goodness, it’s not a sheep. Little Blue Cat is an improvement over all the animals I have been sent by Rachel by virtue of her being a cat instead of a sheep. She also has very firm ideas about lunchtime and is not afraid to demand lunch when she deserves it, a woman after my own heart. Little Blue Cat has told me that she is on an adventure and hopes to be back home soon. Not that she cares or anything.

We hope that Little Blue Cat finds her way home soon.
