Kalpar Update 4 February 2024
Hello, everyone! I have realized that I start almost all my announcements with "Exciting news!" so instead here's some regular news with a dose of cute news in at the end.
Silas & Bundersnoot 2: Bundersnoot Strikes Back
I spoke with Isabella, my editor, last week and she is starting work on the second volume of Silas & Bundersnoot's adventures. She is very excited and hopefully will be done with her first round of edits by mid-March. Currently it looks like a Summer release is possible but definitely sometime 2024.
If you've already read the first book, you can now leave a review on Goodreads. Even just a star review does a lot to increase visibility of indepently-published books like mine. If you weren't able to back the Kickstarter, you can now pre-order your own copy for the 15 March release date here, here, and even here.
Other Projects
I've also been busy working on an additional collection of short stories including one where I incorporated parts of the filk song Rocket Rider's Prayer because I just think it's a cool song. I did want to credit the author of the song properly and I managed to track down someone credited as the author and sent him a quick email.
So that's a really cool feeling. That particular story is very, very close to completion which is frustrating because I have to get from point A to point B and I know how to do it, it's just a matter of writing.
Rate my Familiar
Despite my better judgment I am trying something new and letting Bundersnoot rate other people's familiars. My friend Dash very bravely allowed their dog Inigo to be the first to receive Bundersnoot's judgment.
Inigo is a small white terrier who enjoys playing and is both very brave and very smart. This makes him extremely popular with humans for reasons that I do not understand. Surprisingly for a dog, Inigo does not defer to my obvious superiority as a cat and has the audacity to sass me back. Furthermore he kept trying to snuggle me. Thus I must deduct points for my rating of 8/10.
If you'd like Bundersnoot to rate your familiar, send a picture of your pet, along with a brief description to ben.august.klapper@gmail.com with the subject Rate My Familiar.
Stay safe!
