Closing Out 2024
Hello, everyone, I know it’s been a bit since I’ve sent out an update so I wanted to let everyone know what’s been happening in Kalpar world. I and my spouse have successfully survived the holidays and the gauntlet of four groups of relatives in five days so we are ready for a long winter’s nap. However, I have been working on a variety of things in the meantime.
Ephemera Progress
The funds for the Kickstarter finally transferred to the company account a couple weeks ago and I reached out to Isabella, my editor, about starting the editing process for Ephemera. She will be starting in January and should be finished sometime in February, March at the latest so we are very much on-schedule at this point.
Cover art may be coming. To be totally transparent with the Kickstarter we raised enough money to get the book edited and fulfill it, but not much else. However, the past three months have been good sales months and provided people don’t return the books, that means my upcoming royalties look like this.

Again, these are unpaid royalties and people may decided to return the books they so recently purchased. Unhatched chickens and so on. But hopefully I may be able to get an actual cover artist to make a nice shiny cover for Ephemera that doesn’t look like an economics textbook.
Other Writing
So if you’re in my Discord you probably know about current writing, and if you’re not in my Discord why haven’t you joined? You should join! https://discord.gg/HUSwkjWd
So I was working on a big project and kind of hit an emotional wall because it was hard so I decided to set it aside for now and worked on a new Silas & Bundersnoot story. I have sort of the vague outlines for a third book in the series and finished one story. I also have plans for a secret, fifth book which I haven’t even started but there are ideas rattling around. So have no fear, while Ephemera is being edited I will be working away on more writing.
Rate My Familiar
Alas, there is no familiar! We are out of sheep! Send me pictures of your pets! Tell me a little about them! Have Bundersnoot rate them! Send all that to familiars@thekalpar.com!
CONS!
So far I’ve got Bourbon City in March and Key City in August, but my calendar for a lot of the rest of the year is fairly open. Do you live in the Midwest area? Do you have a fantasy/sci-fi/steampunk convention near you? Would you like to see Kalpar and buy books from me? Let me know! Reply to this email or send an email to kalpar@thekalpar.com with suggestions!
Anyway, that’s all I had. Everybody stay safe, and I wish you a very gentle entrance to 2025.
Your friend in books and trains,
— Kalpar
