the boy in the waiting room
I’m sitting in the Downtown Kia Service Center customer lounge, where I’ve been waiting for the last three hours for our car to get a software update, listening to great music on headphones.
Behind me is television coverage of the inauguration.
In front of me is a kid about 11 or 12 playing a car simulator video game on his iPad, while also watching FunkyFrogBait videos.
Even with my old man eyes, I recognize FunkyFrogBait instantly, having been served one of their videos for the first time little less than a month ago, after I borrowed Ana’s phone to play YouTube videos that would help put me to sleep.
I loved that first video so much I played it for our boys. They’ve now watched dozens more, on their own.
This is one anecdote. But FunkyFrogBait has two million followers.
If you’ve found me to be ahead of the curve over the last few years – if not the last 30 – you might also want to pay attention to the first detail of my report from the Downtown Kia Service Center Customer Lounge on Inauguration Day 2025.
The boy sitting in front of me is playing a virtual driving game where he builds vehicles, modifies them, races them, all while manipulating the camera. And watching a FunkyFrogBait video.
He’s already living in the future.
On the TV behind me is the past, looking into itself, like a black hole.
The work I’m doing right now, building models and games, is part of the future. And we’re looking for investors.
Hit me up if you’d like to get in on the ground floor.
I am so not kidding.
take care,
Jose
