Pee Pee Oh!
If you’re reading this, you’re quite good at abstraction. You can turn ideas into words and words into actions.
That power – that privilege – can also be a significant weakness. A liability.
Because there are people who can turn actions into words; whose actions can take the place of ideas.
We call them fascists. And we are ruled by them. Now.
We must REMEMBER in order to understand.1
In order to stop the last domino from falling – and crushing American democracy to death – we must remember the domino that fell 21 years ago:
The aide said that guys like me were 'in what we call the reality-based community,' which he defined as people who 'believe that solutions emerge from your judicious study of discernible reality.' [...] 'That's not the way the world really works anymore,' he continued. 'We're an empire now, and when we act, we create our own reality. And while you're studying that reality—judiciously, as you will—we'll act again, creating other new realities, which you can study too, and that's how things will sort out. We're history's actors...and you, all of you, will be left to just study what we do'
Just as “men of action” is a cornerstone of fascism, so too is an empire that turns its imperial force inward, against its own people.
Such a (failed, humiliated) empire will use the tools of conquest to:
create categories of people who can and must be conquered, punished, eliminated.
create instruments of state power (e.g., methods of surveillance both material and social; i.e., legislative, coercive) to achieve its imperial designs
apply that power against its (new) colonial subjects
Today these (new) colonial subjects include: “the illegals”, “the radical far left Democrats”, “the enemy within”, “the trans”, “the tren de aragua”.
The specter of “tren de aragua” is now invoked to carry out a military raid on an apartment building in Chicago, Illinois, USA.
But here, again, we must remember: throughout his first presidential campaign, lifelong conman and aspiring tyrant Donald J. Trump warned Americans that ISIS was infiltrating America and would behead Americans.
ISIS! in Iowa.
Of course, ISIS became Haitians eating cats and dogs, became Tren de Aragua, became trans enemies of the state because a fascist state requires enemies to act upon.
THUS, patriots of the United States of America as a constitutional democracy cannot defend their nation state until and unless they destroy America as an imperial power, WHETHER that imperialism is exercised AT HOME or abroad.2
Imperialism is a BLACK HAWK HELICOPTER being used to terrorize American citizens and American residents, yes, but imperialism is also the unified executive theory: a Waldorf Astoria word salad dressing for an imperial presidency.
The POTUS as king is a fundamentally ANTI-American claim that America’s founding charter explicitly, repeatedly rejects.
AND, YET, ACTIONS SPEAK LOUDER THAN WORDS.
In the fight against fascism, actions speak louder than words.
You will be thinking of direct action. Yes, and, also, the actions of a state that is anti-fascist. The actions of a state that is organized not for conquest, plunder and terror, but for life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.
A pro-life state, if you will.
What does such a state look like?

As you may have read, this past week I had surgery wherein a laser broke up stones in my bladder and left kidney. The following day I had a catheter removed, made lunch, took my father to a medical appointment, wrote memos, sent emails and then, at around 2pm, entered a medical crisis.
tl;dr on a scale of 1 to 10, I experienced kidney pain in the 6 to 7 range every 20 minutes for the next 20 hours straight. No pain killer helped. I could not pee.
Four hours into my crisis, I coordinated with my medical care providers to have the catheter reinserted. Under the cover of night, Ana drove us to the same hospital where I’d had surgery the day before.
Two blocks from relief, breathing through my teeth, my medical care providers called.
– “I’m sorry but your HMO does not cover this procedure. You’ll have to go to an emergency room.”
– “What is the nearest emergency room?”
– The county general hospital.
Instead, we drove back to posh Pasadena and our nearby hospital, named after the Robber Baron who “organized” this area a hundred years earlier.
I limped out of the car and walked, bent from pain, through the metal detectors. Inside, every seat was taken. It would be a four to five hour wait.
JD Vance, a degenerate who degrades America with every breath he takes, told us this week that this ER was filled with “illegals”; that they are the reason for my pain.
While I do not have his Yale degree, I do have nearly 40 years of living among WASPs and Latines, Blacks and Asians, Middle Easterners and assorted other Europeans.
I can thus claim with complete certitude:
This was an ER filled with Americans who don’t have health care.
Or, in philosophical terms worthy of elites like Vance and John Roberts: It’s Occam’s razor, you sick fucks.
Reader, I limped back out of the ER and proceeded to go home, where I spent the next 14 hours in a delirium of pain, wrestling with hopelessness.
In the morning, my medical care providers managed to get a hold of me through Ana’s phone and asked me to return to the clinic.
Within an hour I was relieved of my pain.
For the last four days I have lived and worked with dignity, free of pain. In a few days, I will trade a catheter and a stent for a body that is both free of stones and pain. A body that has been cared for and one that is capable of caring for others.
All of this, my friends, is health care.
Healthcare is anti-fascist.
Sophists and pundits (consultants paid by the hour and/or the word) have recently debated the politics of the US government shutdown.
What will Democrats gain by focusing on health care?
Will democracy be saved by Democrats focusing on health care?
Is health care a winning message?
These questions are technically correct and fundamentally stupid.
Health care is action. Health care is doing democracy. Health care is equality as a VERB.
Health care is the life, the liberty, the pursuit of happiness.
Care.
I care. You care. We care.
The USA cares.
Caring is freedom because freedom isn’t free. We count our sacrifices not by the bodies we maim and/or detain and/or incarcerate but by the lives we save.
We prove that we are freedom loving by freeing people, not detaining them.3 Freeing them through due process. Freeing them of unjust, undue burdens. Freeing them of artificial scarcity and addressable needs.
If I had a PPO, I would have been spared a night of pain unlike anything I have experienced in decades, if ever.
And, yet, because I did not have a PPO, I was reminded of all the people I love, of all the people I have met, of how delicate our bonds are to one another and, perhaps, to ourselves.
Who do we want to be? It can be made to sound like a complicated question by people who are clever and thus deeply unserious.
The answer is simply: We want to be people who care.
Caring is doing.
Caring is freedom in action.
Caring is patriotism.
Historical memory is definitionally anti-fascist. The fascists have no use for history. They desire and require only “historical” myths. ↩
https://x.com/DHSgov/status/1955011982488228231Apologists and opportunists will claim Trump is a Jacksonian leader. My asshole is also capable of emitting sounds that can be interpreted as speech; morse code, if you will.
I am here referring to Kenneth Weinstein, the new MAGA party censor installed at CBS. ↩
We prove that we believe that all men are created equal by rejecting the claim that only some bloodlines are truly American. MAGA and the GOP tacitly if not explicitly reject the founding charter of our nation. ↩
