One Week: Projects We Love y Español
What a week.
In our first week, as of this writing, we’ve hit over 130 backers, and have just crossed the 4k mark, which gives us the opportunity to do a Spanish translation of issue #1 (in PDF).
Projects We Love

I’m also super thrilled that we’ve earned a “Projects We Love” badge from Kickstarter — Devinder and I have believed in this project for a long time, but it took a village to make it real. And honestly, so much of that is on Tomás as a killer artist.
Tomás and Mishka are doing some interviews this week, which we hope to feature next week as an “artist spotlight.”
Mato Saw Cover
And we have the colored art update of the Mato Saw variant cover to show off:

Script to Page
We wanted to give an example of how the project comes to life, from script to finished art.
Here is an example of page 6 of issue #1.

In this case, Tomás nailed the layout, and left plenty of room for Howard and Ella to spar over their course of action.
One thing to point out in the second panel, Tomás added the “Tick, Tick, Tick,” sound effect as an art asset, as opposed to something closer to a word balloon. We think this makes the sound effects / onomatoepeias more a part of the world and atmosphere, rather than a verbal element.
In another newsletter, we’ll try to find an example where the script changed more radically in the translation to the art.
If you enjoy Tomás’ art as much as we do, he’s offering 4 (remaining) original, black-and-white, inked, art pin up pages, featuring a character from DEAD MONEY.
