Jen's July Folk Music Newsletter
Hello again, friends!
It’s mid-July already, can you believe it? (I’ve got a song about that…)
The deciduous jungle is in full vine, the cup plants and Joe Pie weed towers over my head, and my legs are deliciously covered in black-raspberry scratches.
I’ve been sailing every chance I get, helping out in the garden when I can. And working from a structured practice schedule for the concert on the 20th (ten days away!). There are songs I haven’t sung in forever, and also ones you’ve never heard before because I just wrote them!
All 2024 Performances Are Fundraisers For Rainbow Railroad
Rainbow Railroad is an international organization that helps LGBTQI+ people escape violence and persecution to find a path to safety.
Donate ahead of time on my campaign page, “Folkies Fight The Fash”, and flash the email receipt to skip the line.
I dearly hope I’ll never have to call on them for help, but it’s far too imaginable today.
Here’s when and where I’ll be playing this summer:
July 20, 7 - 9 pm at Keren Price’s yard. 4652 Vincent Ave S, Minneaplolis, MN. $5-15 suggested; proceeds go to Rainbow Railroad
I’m taking August off to travel.
Powderhorn Porch Fest (September 21)
Still unconfirmed, but the main requirement is to live here in the neighborhood. Powderhorn Porch Fest 2024. I’ll keep ya posted.September 28 6:30 - 10pm with Idle Rose and Bad Posture Club

Reach out if you’d like to host a show in October!
Thanks, all, for reading.
It’s been an interesting year, and my heart has opened in ways I never imagined it could. I can’t wait to share all this music with you!
No new poems this week, so here’s a favorite verse from Hobo’s Lullaby by Woody Guthrie:
I know the police cause you trouble
They cause trouble everywhere
But when you die and go to heaven
There’ll be no policemen there.
Love, light, and song
