Jen Wood's Folk Music Update Sept 2025

Hi friends!

Apparently it’s been 64 days since I’ve sent out one of these, so let me assure you that all is well over here. I didn’t really have much of an update last month, as all my August shows were canceled to attend some family matters on the East coast.

Rest easy, dad. I miss you every day.

take me to the show!

I have one show coming up in September, a benefit for Minneapolis Trans Mutual Aid:

Badger’s Den -
1915 Buchanan St NE Minneapolis
$10 - September 20 - First act 7:00, I go on at 7:30.

Also playing:
-
Joe Bartel
-
Big Lex Noens
-
Ungrateful Little String Band

Pretty heady company for this earnest poet folkie!

a technical note about buying music

Tired of paying Peter Thiel a dollar each time you buy an album with PayPal? Good news! Bandcamp is moving to Strip for payment processing.

Also! Some of my music is now available on Mirlo! I get a much better percentage, and also PayPal-free! In their words:

Mirlo hosts a community of artists, listeners, organizers, and coders who are daring to do just that: taking lessons learned from working in the solidarity economy and applying them to our platform.

thanks for the memories…

The release concert this past July was incredible. Thank you so much to everyone who showed up to sing along! I had such an amazing time, I was glowing for days.

me, on a stage strumming and singing, with a hundred little glowing lights around me, the trans pride flag hung behind me, and a moon faintly rising in the background.
The dreamiest of dreamy nights of music

If you didn’t make it to that show, well, come to this next one over in North East!

goodnight, and see you soon!

Thanks to all, for the encouragement, for financially helping me to make this album, and most of all for showing up!

Until the next time, I’ll leave you with these words from Wendel Berry.

Love, light, and music,

—Jen

Stay Home

I will wait here in the fields
to see how well the rain
brings on the grass.
In the labor of the fields
longer than a man’s life
I am at home. Don’t come with me.
You stay home too.

I will be standing in the woods
where the old trees
move only with the wind
then with the gravity.
In the stillness of the trees
I am at home. Don’t come with me.
You stay home too.
