Wiz-Mockery

A group of high rise buildings of various designs on the far side of a brick wall. An American flag flies from the top of the wall.

Wizards of Waverly Place 1.7 "Alex's Choice"

When I was in elementary school, I was invited to a popular girl's party...so they could mock me. No, I have not forgotten it. Children can be very cruel. In fact, the incident probably contributed to the social anxiety I've fought all my life.

So when Gigi does it to Harper I know, instantly, what's going on. So does Alex. Harper, though, is oblivious.

Shenanigans ensue.

The other plot is about not dialing 911 as a prank and didn't really hold my interest.

I was too busy feeling sorry for Harper. I've been there...

Wizards of Waverly Place 1.8 "Curb Your Dragon"

I love beagles. And the beagle in this episode is adorable and looked like he was having lots of fun!

The kids are conned into buying a dragon dog that the conman then takes back, but of course Alex outsmarts him...with the help of a polymorph spell that tends to have lingering effects, oops.

I want the beagle to stay around. He's so, so cute. Anyone got one I can pet?

Ahem.

(They bought the dragon on Temu. They totally bought the dragon on...WizTemu?)

Wizards of Waverly Place 1.9 "Movies"

The kids learn how to make their own spells. This results in Alex ending up in an R rated horror movie.

Not the auditorium. The movie.

It's a bit of a one joke episode, tbh, although they did look like they were having plenty of fun with it.

The dog is not in evidence.

Wizards of Waverly Place 1.10 "Pop Me And We Both Go Down"

Zit humor is juvenile, but an animated zit that releases terrible pickup lines was kinda funny. And somehow didn't ruin Justin's chances with the new hot Goth girl.

Alex, of course, manages to mess up the animation spell in various entertaining ways...

(So, here's something that makes little sense, why are all three kids learning the same spells when they're 16, 14, and 12?)

Wizards of Waverly Place 1.11 "Potion Commotion"

Oh dear. Oh dear. Oh Alllllex.

They're doing potions which cause you to feel the same emotion as another person. Oh, and they addressed last week's complaint. They're in the same room, but Max is way behind.

Until now, when his powers show up and we find out something really cruel: Only one of them gets to stay a wizard. What's with that? I guess it's wizard population control, although their dad has the genes. So, dad lost out to some sibling, I guess?

If I was a wizard I'd have an only child, just saying.

In any case, Alex tries to love potion the boy she wants to ask out and it goes...poorly. Very poorly indeed. My sympathy level is zero. And Max's out of control powers help Justin go to model UN.

But yeah.

Don't try to love potion people. It never works.
