Will Nassau Burn?

Dunes of white sand partially overgrown with grasses.

Black Sails 4.2

Bad decisions: Mutiny. It’s always a bad decision.

Long John Silver is caught by somebody with a grudge against Teach. “You talk too much.” Yup. Talking is what he did.

Meanwhile, Blackbeard is blockading the harbor and demanding that Eleanor be handed over to him to, presumably, walk the plank.

The governor has a plan to use himself as bait (it did occur to me that if they wanted bait, they have an entire brothel full of girls who could pretend to be Eleanor…)

Flint’s raid on the Underhill Plantation doesn’t go well. The slaves are…well…cowed and under threat. White men don’t get it.

Ergo.

Mutiny.

Which is going to end so well, not…

Black Sails 4.3

Bad decisions: Cross Max, cross Max in front of Eleanor, ignore Eleanor.

And now Nassau’s fate…is to burn. And it’s all the fault of Captain Barringer. In Rogers’ absence, Barringer arrests Max for treason, delays Eleanor’s departure to seek help from her family in Philadelphia, and then ignores Eleanor’s advice to not try and make more pirate martyrs.

His goal is to show control, to intimidate, but violence is these men’s language. Speak it, and they will shout.

It’s a mess, but none of it is a surprise. (It’s far too convoluted for Teach to have planned this, but it’s going to serve him well).

Him and, of course, Long. John. Silver. Which is now being said with those periods every time.

And as with all conflicts, the ordinary people will suffer the most…
