Watchful Ghosts - When Spirits Protect Us

Ghosts are often portrayed in horror literature as scary specters that are often antagonists. They might not even be malicious - sometimes they need help and are acting out to get attention.

However, literature also has a long tradition of more benevolent spirits. And folklore has, along with the angry ghosts, an even longer tradition of ghosts that protect and watch over people.

I thought it would be fun to pull out some examples.
