Two Popes, No...

Tomorrow, all of the Cardinals who haven’t achieved the age of 80 go into conclave to choose a new Pope. Supposedly, God guides them. In reality…ideally they’re picking somebody good for the job.

In 1378, the Western Schism happened within the Catholic church. It lasted from 20 September 1378 to 11 November 1417.

For most of that time there were two men claiming to be the Pope, and for the last few years there were three.
