No, I’m not going to do anything about love for Valentine’s Day. Because everyone is doing romance stuff for Valentine’s Day and I don’t like to be everyone.

A smart woman once suggested to me that people for whom Valentine’s Day is trying (single, divorced, widowed, etc) should instead celebrate one of its predecessor festivals, Lupercalia.

So what was Lupercalia, how was it celebrated, how might we celebrate it…and is there some relevant fiction?
