Relax, The Dog Doesn't Die

A tumbledown stone wall in a forest.

The Handmaid's Tale 3.11 "Liars"

Ooh, boy.

Serena arranges a meeting with the American spy, who apparently claims he can help her get Nicole back.

How does this end?

With Fred in Canadian custody, facing war crimes. Serena is also in custody, but they aren't listing her crimes. Is she so desperate to see her daughter again that she gave up her husband?

I could see it, especially with everything going on.

Meanwhile, June goes back to Jezebels. She has 52 kids to get out, but Lawrence is in disgrace and no longer has the clearance to escape. So now she's trying to get them on a supply plane.

This ends with a john trying to rape her and her snapping and killing him.

Those Marthas in Jezebel's? This isn't the first body they've disposed of, just saying.

The Handmaid's Tale 3.12 "Sacrifice"

Yup. Serena Joy sold out her own husband. I don't blame her. And he's surprised? After everything?

The Canadians still have her in prison...or perhaps protective custody...but she's allowed to see Nichole.

Luke tries to talk to Fred and ends up hitting him. And he's surprised? After everything? (Actually, Fred did pretty much provoke him).

Meanwhile, Eleanor Lawrence snaps the rest of the way...and overdoses on what remains of her meds. Or painkillers. It's hard to tell.

Will Commander Lawrence still help those kids get out now his primary reason for doing so is gone?

June tells him not to blame himself but the truth is: He did kill her. Gilead killed her.

The Handmaid's Tale 3.13 "Mayday"

In the books, Mayday was the revolutionary network.

In the show, it's the plot to get 52...and counting...children out.

It's way over 52.

Lawrence chooses to stay behind to "clean up his mess."

June chooses to stay behind to make a diversion and is injured, but appears to be alive...this is a season finale, so no doubt that scene was added after they were renewed and if they hadn't been...this wouldn't have been a terrible ending.

Poor Luke. Not his wife nor his daughter. All those kids, but...

The Waterfords have full blown turned on each other. Serena's plea deal is canceled when Fred tells them of her role in forcing Nick to impregnate June.

So, where does it go from here? Gilead is shattering, but not yet shattered. And what can a bunch of fugitive women do?

The Avengers 2.8 "Death of a Great Dane"

Don't worry. No Great Danes, or other dogs, die on camera. A Great Dane does, however, get thoroughly loved on by Steed.

There's a lot of money in this episode, including the perhaps ahead of its time opinion that there is, in fact, such a thing as too much money for any individual to hold.

The episode does start with a funeral, ostensibly of a Great Dane. Not much size difference between a Great Dane and a man, right?

Yeah, it's that obvious switcheroo. Delivered with the usual style of this show.

And, yes, the Great Dane is utterly adorable and should probably be credited, she was stealing the scene. Maybe even the episode...

The Avengers 2.9 "The Sell-Out"

Steed gets accused of being the very informer he's hunting. (Dr. King shows up again in this episode, but says he wants out. Rather than being an old script, I think this was just covering for some unavailability on Blackman's part).

Not as cute as the last episode, but nothing is except my friend's new kitten.

This is basically the kind of comedy of errors that probably happens in real spycraft more than real spies would ever admit. It includes Steed trying to look old. And the real informant was just trying to provide for his wife...soon to be his widow. Sad, but there are better ways, surely?

This episode is actually kind of quiet...meaning the sound track. And King is never as interesting as the lady sidekicks.
