Peter Pan is Not a Vampire

…but I have a Peter Pan book and a vampire book. Just not at the same time. The statue, by the way, is the Peter Pan statue in Hyde Park.
Review: Forgotten by A. Gural
Whether you like this book will turn on one thing, and one thing only; your opinion on Peter Pan.
As somebody who never particularly cared for Peter Pan, I still have to admit that this book is well written.
Gwendolyn has been sent to a boarding school to deal with her excessive imagination.
Gwen.
Gwendy.
The conceit of disguising who she is doesn’t last very long. She’s forgotten Neverland, and other important things may also have escaped her brain.
But Neverland is now leaking into the real world, and Peter Pan’s love for her is going to ruin everything…from the perspective of Hook and Tinkerbell.
This is a book about creativity and growing up, and I wish I could like it more, but a good chunk of it is a simple retelling of Barrie’s work.
Recommended to people who liked Peter Pan, otherwise…it’s nicely written, but mostly a curiosity. But I suspect if you liked the original, you will like this book.

Review: Being A Vampire by Ramona Ridge
This is a typical modern sexy vampire story. If you like that kind of thing, you’ll eat (drink?) this up. If you don’t, it doesn’t bring anything new to the picture except for a really nice amount of local knowledge of Seattle.
The author certainly knows her city and as this is a short book, she delivers that with appropriate brevity…and an entire bunch of footnotes at the end. With links. You can explore or not as you choose.
My only issue was that she ended on a relationship cliffhanger, which may put off paranormal romance readers…and this does appear to be a romance. I think she may have split this story into too many parts.
That said…it’s a pretty nice vampire story, and they don’t sparkle.
Recommended for vampire fans.
