Nuke It From Orbit...

Doctor Who 2.3 “The Well”
Doctor Who is at its best when it leans into horror.
“Nuke the site from orbit.” We all finish the sentence…well, the older viewers do, anyway. The kids might not get the reference.
The Doctor returns to Midnight, which is now a dead world, being mined, but there’s a monster…and a monster we never see. This is obviously a homage to Alien…and while it isn’t as powerfully scary as Blink or Silence in the Library, it’s up there.
It’s creepy. We do dip into disability as superpower, but I don’t think I care that much…and I love the adaptive technology.
And the uniforms…even if the Doctor doesn’t have any ability to be fabulous.
Belinda is a solid Companion, proving herself up to the task, although she has to rescue the Doctor to actually achieve proper status ;).
This may be the episode of the season…but we have a few left yet.
Black Sails 2.5
And here comes the bad business decision. You can only have one of the women. Do you choose your trusted lieutenant or the whore?
Of course he chooses the whore. For “business” reasons.
Then again, Anne started sleeping with her first. Sigh. Think with your top head, people.
We also find out what really happened with Mrs. Barlow. And, of course, Flint and Hamilton. Finally, they actually admit…you know.
There really should be more gay men in this show, though. And I’m still waiting for the missing shirts.
So, how are they going to handle this? The fort is pretty badly damaged, and Nassau is…well…not doing well.
(And Hamilton is in the looney bin).
