Nebulas Are Out

The Nebula finalists are out and I have mixed feelings.
My favorite novel of 2024, The Wings Upon Her Back by Samantha Mills did not make a cut. Only one of the novels was something I read and nothing I nominated made it…and the novel I did read was one I didn’t like that much.
Novella went a bit better for me, and Lost Ark Dreaming is fantastic. Novelette…I didn’t read many novelettes, but my favorite, Katya Vasilievna and the Second Drowning of Baba Rechka went through.
In short story, nothing I nominated was picked, but there were so many good stories here. Same in Andre Norton, but I admit I didn’t read enough.
Most of the games are things I can’t play. The one game I did play, Slay the Princess, I got through one playthrough and can’t go back because unfortunately even with the accessibility settings toggled to reduce motion, it was still making me motion sick. Which is a shame, it was a good game as far as I could tell.
Do I have any predictions?
Just one. Someone You Can Build A Nest In will win best novel. I didn’t nominate it because I didn’t manage to get it read (my tbr pile is less tragic than it has been, but is still pretty tragic).
I really don’t mind not much of mine making it through when there’s so much beautiful SF out there. I’ll be making my decisions after I’ve taken a look at the finalists.
And congratulations to everyone!
