Monkey Do?

Marvel’s Hit-Monkey 2.3 “The Rope”
Oh dear. Bryce…really hasn’t grasped that he’s a demon now. And is trying to fix things with his daughter.
Who hates him for the very obvious reason that he was too busy killing people to have any actual time for her. Or her mom.
And he just got her fired.
Meanwhile, Monkey has been offered membership in a really creepy, cult-like ex-assassin team. He wants to say yes. Bryce wants to say no.
Eunice is making noises too.
I’m actually with Bryce on this one, because those people are A. Really creepy and B. Convinced they can stop all violence on the planet.
That’s not going to happen.
They did at least get somebody unpossessed. For now.
Marvel’s Hit-Monkey 2.4 “Never Too Late”
CW: People eating gross slime. I don’t want lunch now. I mean, I do, but…
Bryce gets a body for 48 hours (and hasn’t grasped that he’s going to be pulled back into Hell at the end) so he can make up with his daughter.
He, of course, first tries to do it with a bag of cash, but he ends up needing it to hire some help.
The big set piece battle at the airport was pretty good, although they’re back to the really gross R-rated violence.
I like statue girl. A lot.
Has Monkey joined the team? And Bryce, apparently, is meant to fight a war in Hell. I don’t think he’s going to want to do that.
(They still can’t end killing, but I have to admit that getting those artifacts off the street is a pretty decent plan).
Akiko is pretending to be Lady Bullseye. This won’t end well.
Marvel’s Hit-Monkey 2.5 “Akiko”
Okay, so, I loved the flashback at the start of this episode. They changed the art style to this like kids anime thing which really worked.
Poor Akiko. Turns out she’s spent time in the looney bin and may never have been that stable. And now she’s gone all revenge assassin.
Monkey keeps her alive, even though his new friends tell him not to. Alas, they may be right, because Lady Bullseye’s ghost just showed up to train her.
Does this have something to do with whatever’s going on in Hell?
Bryce’s clock is running down. And Iris is going to be the new crime scene cleaner and loves it. Eww. The girl’s pretty gross.
(And also gay, as it happens).
Marvel’s Hit-Monkey 2.6 “The Estate”
Oh, boy.
Things just got…bad. At multiple levels and in multiple ways.
Monkey may not just be an animal any more as he’s able to resist animal control powers, albeit with a bit of help.
But surprise, surprise, the Cooperative aren’t the good guys.
Or are they? Maybe Hiruko just misunderstood. Maybe she’s going to lose her soul for nothing, because she just stole that dang sword.
Giant sasquatch monkey was a fun image.
Poor Monkey if they are the bad guys. Poor Hiruko otherwise.
And Bryce is running out of time.
Four episodes left. I think that the Cooperative are, in fact, the bad guys.
Marvel’s Hit-Monkey 2.7 “The Last Supper”
The Cooperative sends Monkey to kill Bryce and Akiko and retrieve the sword. Yeah, they’re the bad guys.
And this is the most downer episode. Eunice, Bryce, Akiko, and Bryce’s kid go to Eunice’s safe house. She calls for backup.
Not a single one of “her” killers shows up. Not one. Just Iris.
Between the Cooperative and Lady Bullseye, this couldn’t possibly go well…the episode ends with Bryce unconscious in corporeal form and Haruka dead. Of course, death isn’t permanent in this universe, but that feels very unfair in a two-days-from-retirement sort of way.
But it probably took that to get Monkey to see sense. I hope. (Does that count as a fridging? No, I think she existed for long enough and I’m not convinced she’s going to stay dead).
Marvels Hit-Monkey 2.8 “Mind Mall”
Definitely the bad guys. They do know how to end killing…by destroying the world. And they’re working with the Devil, who wants all the souls to fight his war.
They do, however, make some mistakes. One of them is not telling low rent Wednesday Addams what they have in mind. She turns on them. Monkey turns on them.
And this ends up with both of them and Bryce trapped inside Splice’s mind…which resembles a psychedelic shopping mall.
My brain produces two personal dreamscapes. One is the psychedelic shopping mall. The other is a theme park. I think if I had Splice’s abilities, it would be the theme park, though.
This allows for an extended fight that does follow the laws of physics, until they get out…because Splice has one of his brothers trapped in there.
For 25 years.
Needless to say, he’s dead. But they have the relic. How do they save the world?
Especially as Bryce sold his soul…
