Doctor Who 2.7 “Wish World”
Well, guess who’s back. I wasn’t one of the fans who guessed right on the identity of Mrs. Flood…who both is and is not the Rani.
And it’s pretty clear what the Rani wants. If she wasn’t so amoral, she could have actually come to the Doctor and seen if they could do it without hurting anyone. They could have worked together.
The Rani wants to restore Gallifrey.
And she doesn’t care who gets hurt on the way. And she does it by kidnapping the God of Wishes, the seventh son of the seventh son of a seventh son from his parents and putting him together with Ruby’s evil ex to create…did she change Earth or create a new one? It’s hard to tell…
…but the Doctor is trapped in this alternate reality, thinking he’s an insurance adjuster and married to Belinda with a child.
The child isn’t real.
The child is real, because…somehow it’s Poppy from “Space Babies.” Fun!
And the Rani’s plan to restore Gallifrey means finding somebody who knows how to build the Eye of Harmony.
She’s trying to resurrect Omega.
Now, it all makes sense, but I have to admit that…the ending of this episode had me yell “You bastard” at the screen…and I was at a watch party. Content warning: Cliffhanger.
Actual cliffhanger.
I am looking forward to seeing how this is all resolved.
