The term robot didn’t originally mean what it means now. The word started as robotnik, a Czech word that essentially meant slave. In the now famous play, R.U.R., Rossum develops workers who have “an enormously developed intelligence” but no soul.

This wasn’t the first appearance of a robot, but it was why we use the term (prior to that, automaton was more common). Later, Asimov coined “robotics” to refer to the development of robots, and now people get degrees in it!

So, I’m going to talk about some fictional robots, based entirely on which ones I think are cool!
