Ben Song vs. Nazis, Realtors vs. the Monster Under the Bed and the Doctor vs. Pokemon
Quantum Leap 2.6, Surreal Estate 2.7 and Doctor Who: The Star Beast

Quantum Leap Season 2, Episode 6 “Secret History”
Ben is in 1950s Princeton right after the death of Albert Einstein. Bummer! He really wanted to meet his hero but, alas, the powers that be did not allow it.
And guess who showed up. Hannah! The waitress from “Closure Encounters,” now a student under one professor Donovan.
But Ben first has to deal with a murder. In fact, we just took a genre side step into noir and Hannah is the dame…a spicy, smart, and highly competent dame, but a dame nonetheless.
And I got the one thing I wanted: Ben punched a Nazi. It’s all about a formula that would make a really good thermonuclear bomb, which poor Einstein found while looking for fusion power.
We’re also playing Musical Holograms. Jen handles part of the leap and Tom the other. Awkward? Maybe they bond a little, but Ben has now fallen for Hannah, potentially denying me Screw It Polyamory. Oh, who was I kidding, they won’t do that on network.
(But the actors threw us a bone. There was absolutely some homoerotic tension in there).
Meanwhile, Ian is being blackmailed and it’s possible Ziggy won’t be able to find Ben again. Will Ben have to do another hologram-less leap? The next episode is A Kind of Magic…so I guess somebody’s going to be important…
SurrealEstate Season 2, Episode 7 “God & Monsters”
The client has a monster under the bed. It scared him when he was seven and turned him into a tough guy and a bully.
It meant well! Honest, it did… Parenthood and parent issues are a major theme here. But we all have monsters under our childhood beds…even those of us in good homes. The monster represents the things that make us who we are, for good or bad.
And the well meaning people…thinking again, I think this is about toxic masculinity.
Meanwhile, our favorite gay couple have their baby. Zooey is convinced something has happened to Susan (finally!) and Lomax, the new agent, tries to get an agoraphobic immortal to leave her home and take a massive settlement.
Key word here being agoraphobic.
And in a nice touch, it was caused by being the girl kissed in the victory scene, ya know. Literally. Thank you for highlighting that little issue.
So, can we rescue Susan now?
Doctor Who Special: The Star Beast
David Tennant. Catherine Tate. Bringing these two back together was going to be trick because, as we hopefully all remember, Donna will die if she remembers the Doctor.
But the memory wipe appears to be starting to fail, even as Donna enjoys a normal life with her husband and her daughter Rose.
And something has drawn the Doctor to them.
This then proceeds to be a typical Doctor Who exploration of the idea of monsters. Nothing is quite as it seems and…well.
Jasmin Finney is amazing as Rose. And U.N.I.T. has a new scientific advisor I suspect we will see more of, but for now we have two more episodes of Doctor-Donna before we get Gatwa.
It’s not a standout episode, not quite up to 60th anniversary, but it’s certainly a good one. And I love the new TARDIS.
After all.
It has round things.
(Note this would be a lot longer, but I suspect some people won’t have seen it yet. It’s well worth it, though).
