The Patara lighthouse in Turkiye is being restored. The goal is to put a light in it when it’s done. This lighthouse was built during the reign of Emperor Nero.

Lighthouses as an aid to navigation have existed for millennia…and still play a role today. What was the first lighthouse?

How did we realize that warning lights were a good way to keep ships from sailing straight into the coast?
