The January Newsletter! FLUKE, Anthology, and... Critters??

Wow, first newsletter of the year! If you’re new here, welcome! Here’s where I post updates on projects, upcoming events, and more! If you’re not new here, welcome back! Hope everyone is staying safe and warm out there.
UPCOMING EVENTS
Well, I kind of gave it away in the header image, but I’m going to be tabling at FLUKE this spring in Athens, Georgia! Since this is a show with a lottery-based application, I really had no idea if I would get in or not. My lottery number was 69, though, which seemed pretty auspicious. I’m beyond stoked to be going to this!
INOSCULARUM UPDATES

I’ve still been chugging along at the inks for Inoscularum #1, but for the past couple of weeks I’ve had to put it on the back burner because of the…
TCCN 2026 ANTHOLOGY!

That’s right, the Triangle Comics Creator Network is back at it again with another anthology! Well, to be more precise, we’ll be releasing three mini-anthologies this year, each with a different sub-theme within this year’s general theme of “spooky.” We’ll be giving the anthologies away on Free Comic Book Day (May 2nd)! I’ll keep you all posted with more details once I know them.
My entry this year is all about Theo, who you may remember from the comic I made for last year’s anthology, The Sun & Moon Sisters. This year’s comic is a bit darker and moodier than last year’s, and it’s been really fun to go all-out in creating a dreamy, spooky atmosphere.
OTHER STUFF!

I think we could all use a little extra bit of good things to appreciate in the world, so in addition to having a song of the month, this newsletter will also have a…
CRITTER OF THE MONTH!

January’s Critter of the Month is the Spotted Salamander! Pretty soon these guys are going to be laying their eggs in vernal pools all over North America. I’ve seen one of these guys at a frog-watching event, and they are… surprisingly huge! Adults apparently can get up to about 9 inches in length. They make me remember that spring is coming soon!
SONG OF THE MONTH!
January’s song of the month is Rhiannon Giddens’ cover of Just The Two of Us. Absolutely melts my face off every time.
ONE MORE THING…

I’m not usually one to recommend looking at social media, but I just stumbled across this bluesky account called Good Trailcams. I think things like this are what the internet should be for. Just a bunch of wild photos from people’s trailcams. The pictures are a good mix of hilarious and majestic. I’d take a look at these if you need a laugh, a smile, or to just be reminded that we live in a big, awesome world.
END OF JANUARY NEWSLETTER
Well, that’s it for now. Let’s all stay warm, stay safe, and keep looking out for each other.
If you get a bit of time, go outside and look at the moon, and remember that as long as we care for each other, we’ll outlast this. The next full moon is February 1st.
