09/10/21: More Murder in Winterhaven
I’ve been all over the place the last couple weeks. I’m trying to get into a habit of writing first thing in the morning before breakfast because, when I do, I generally have a good creative day. At the root of it, though, I need to have an idea that I want to pursue and that’s not always the case. I might need a secondary habit of daily writing to just purge all the stuff running around my brain.
So, last week, I put Murder in Winterhaven up on itch.io and that felt stressful. I know that I’m very bad at taking criticism and fear of that criticism is why I’m feeling stressed. I also know that I need to do it anyway. Not everyone is going to like what I do and people complain on the internet; two of the great truths.
This week I wrote a mystery for Murder in Winterhaven because I realized that building mysteries is work and, also, I needed a mystery to playtest the game. Between thinking and writing, it took me about three hours to put Death of a Businessman together which is not great in terms of prepping for a game but isn’t bad for putting something together that I think someone else could use.
It’s not up on itch.io yet because I’m playing around with the graphic design for the cover and trying to figure out whether it needs an image (I’m currently leaning no). I figure I’ll have it up for pay what you want today or tomorrow.
