Immortalize the connection

I say it all the time. I tell people all the time. Date a writer. Pour into a writer and let them fall in love with you, because they will immortalize you in their writing. They will immortalize the connection you share. And for damn near the rest of your life, when you read what they wrote about you, what they wrote for you, you’ll be brought back to those moments, to that connection, in the most beautiful way. If only just briefly. Date a writer.

This woman is immortalized in my words. I have pages and pages written about the goosebumps on her back, her scent left on my bed sheets, the way my heart aches for her.

I cannot remember a time when I allowed a woman to so utterly and completely crush my heart. Y’all. I’m talking destroyed. Decimated. I’m talking sobbing on the shower floor. I saw a post on social media that said something like, “How badly did it hurt? My mom noticed”. My mom noticed.

You ever care for someone so strongly that even though they hurt you so badly, you still hope that they’re happy with the decision they made because you know how heavy and painful regret can be and you don’t want them to have to carry that feeling? That you’d rather carry the pain of them hurting you than for them to carry the regret of doing so?

Someone thank this girl for having me experience the most beautiful pain. I will never be the same. I’m forever changed.
